Our student artists had an amazing day at Simmons Farm! Students enjoyed picking fresh strawberries, learning how fruits and vegetables are grown in Pennsylvania, and discovering the important role local farms play in our communities.
The hands-on learning continued as students planted their own pepper plants to take home and care for, giving them a firsthand connection to agriculture and healthy eating. The day was topped off with a visit to the petting zoo, where they interacted with farm animals and learned more about life on the farm.
A special thank you to Simmons Farm for providing such a fun, educational, and memorable experience for our students. It was a wonderful day of learning beyond the classroom!

Students from New Academy Charter School’s 9th grade Civics class recently visited the Pittsburgh City-County Building, where they explored the Pennsylvania Supreme Court courtroom—the oldest appellate court system in the United States, established in 1722. The building’s rich history and stunning architecture made for an unforgettable learning experience.
During their visit, students had the unique opportunity to meet with a judge, who shared insight into how the courts operate and the types of cases heard there. One of the highlights was observing a live portion of a case involving eminent domain, giving students a real-world look at the judicial system in action.
It was an engaging and meaningful experience that truly brought classroom learning to life!
